Most striking was how hard it was to find truly Chinese things. Sure there were the typical chochkies, but you can find these in china town back home. Over the few days we had to walk around we almost exclusively saw knock-offs / fakes of brands available all over the US. We stumbled into a mall full of only high end brands, blasting trendy music from back home. Where was China in all this? Out of our time exploring we found one maybe two local brands and there originally was questionable.
