We had plans to head from Marrakesh over the Atlas Mountains and to Fez, with a stop over in the middle. We hit the road early, headed for the mountains excited to cut back and forth along the winding switch backs up and over the mountain range.
Driving along N9 you pass the beautiful country side of Morocco. Massive fields filled with crops or herds of goats munching their way along a field. Dotted all along the road where locals selling geos, crystals, and fossils they'd found in the mountains. We had to stop to check it all out.
Getting higher in the mountains the temp kept dropping, the wind picked up, and the views intensified. The 360 of amazing peaks forced us to keep pulling over and snapping photos. We'd been expecting an intense drive of zig zagging narrow roads along the edge of a mountain, instead all of the roads we encountered were in great shape. A few gnarly potholes here or there but totally fine to drive.
