Fall has descended on New York and a few of us were itching to get one last camping trip in before it got to cold. Three of us formed up at Penn Station at 8:30am on a Saturday to catch a train north to Harriman Mt. our stand by backpacking spot.

The train ride gave us time to wake up and get excited for the hike ahead. Reaching Tuxedo we split up the gear to even out our packs, and stepped onto the trail. We aimed for our favorite spot, a tucked away site next to Lake Sebago. 6 miles in as we start to approach the site we see ahead a bright orange tent. Someone's claimed it before us. A previous trip we'd discovered a near by back up.

We cut around a swamp and up to a smaller lake. Our back up spot was better then we'd imagined. 180 degree views of the lake and a perfect fire pit. We set up camp, cleaned up the fire pit and settled in for the night.

For dinner cooked two massive steaks, a pile of fingerling potatoes, and some homegrown peppers over the fire. It was an impressive meal, and the perfect dinner after a long hike. After a chilly, windy, and slightly rainy night we woke up make egg sandwiches and many rounds of coffee.

We hiked back to Tuxedo, making the entire trip in only an hour and a half. The local grocery store whipped up a few sandwiches and coffee which tied us over until the train arrived.
