For our most recent Experimental Dinner the whole crew out into the woods. We rented two micro cabins in upstate New York and 15 of us gathered together. Over three days we cooked a massive assortment of food over the fire. The group slowly arrived Friday night, as some fish and other small dinner items were prepped.
All Saturday was a steady reveal of endless food. Peanut butter and pickles sandwiches kicked lunch time off. Hand made tortilla tacos held elotes, hot slaw from cabbages thrown in the fire, and insane pico de gallo. On the side we made a hydroflask full of margaritas then Moscow mules. Three wedges of brie with berries wrapped in dough cooked in the fire tied us over while dinner was being prepped. A few of us strung together a spit to low cook al pastor, al eggplant, two string chickens, and below in the heart of the fire a big pot of dal.
The group stayed up late chatting about future meals and past camping trips, cooking s'mores as the fire dumbed down.
