On the exterior Amsterdam is old Europe. Small homes leaning after centuries of foundation shift and tiny streets cutting between cute houses. But peeking inside nearly every home we saw was completely modern. White walls, clean wooden tables, iconic chairs and lamps. My co-worker and I started to joke that it was against the law to not have a well designed home.
Knowing a local we had the chance to get a tour of an Amsterdam-ite’s house. Narrow and tall an apartment is a whole house. Each room of an apartment would be a separate floor. A small outside space on the roof or out-back completed these small awesome houses.
